Gao Yang, Party secretary of the Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning, paid a visit to 10 poor families in Zhongba village, Shidong town, in Xifeng county – located in Southwest China's Guizhou province – on Jan 13, bringing them money and Spring Festival gifts.
The delegation led by Gao brought the poor residents a total of 3,000 yuan ($442.50) in support money, plus 200 kilograms of rice and 200 kilograms of vegetable oil. As the lunar new year approaches, the visit aimed to boost their faith in life and in the future, officials added.
Gao went to the home of a villager named Song Banglun, who uses a wheelchair because of a physical disability caused by an injury more than 10 years ago. In addition to daily expenses, he also has to pay for his kid's school fees, but only has the minimum living allowance.
Gao urged local Party officials to provide assistance and timely help to solve the living difficulties of the residents. Gao told Song to take good care of his health, build up his confidence and create a better life together with the help of the local government and through his own efforts.
At other homes, Gao also asked about the living conditions of locals, listened to their needs and encouraged them to maintain a positive attitude towards life and rise up to meet its challenges, in order to lift themselves out of poverty and achieve prosperity.
During his visit, Gao also showed concern for workers stationed in the village, encouraging them to stick to their original aspirations, boost their confidence and go all out to win the fight against poverty in 2020.
