Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou province recently reviewed the relocation of its impoverished population, as well as land reclamation and greening projects in the city's various districts and counties.

Detailed information from the review was recorded in a database overseen by the local natural resources and planning authority.

As of May 26, 851 parcels of land covering more than 126 mu (84,000 square meters) had been inspected; the land has been used to resettle 851 impoverished households composed of 3,223 people and for land reclamation and greening projects. About 478 parcels passed the review.

In Wudang and Huaxi districts, 13 out of 22 and 30 out of 73 parcels were reviewed, respectively. The number of land parcels reviewed in Xiuwen, Xifeng and Kaiyang were 38, 86 and 176, accounting for 47.5 percent, 68.8 percent and 50 percent of these counties' total parcels to accept reviews.

During the inspections, problems such as land reclamation without removing concrete surfaces and untreated construction waste were reported to local authorities on May 8 for immediate improvement. Offenders were urged to correct their practices and prove compliance by a set date.

By May 27, Qingzhen and Kaiyang had updated their databases to provide accurate information about 12.87 mu of land used for poverty-reduction resettlements, reclamation work and greening projects. The remaining districts and counties had not yet updated their progress.

Guiyang's natural resources and planning bureau has urged its subordinates in Huaxi, Wudang, Qingzhen, Xiuwen, Xifeng and Kaiyang to better fulfill their duties while reviewing and monitoring the land used for poverty-reduction resettlement, reclamation and greening.
