The Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning held online and offline activities on Aug 29 to promote a national day of publicizing surveying and mapping laws.

The 2020 national territory awareness publicity week is also taking place from Aug 27 to Sept 2, calling for greater attention to national territory.

Activities such as a China map puzzle were organized to help people learn provinces and capitals, borders, physical features and other aspects of geography. Pamphlets were handed out to provide further details about national territory as well as surveying and mapping science and rules.

The problems inherent in the use and drawing-up of maps were explained to participants, who were also told about how to identify mapping problems, download standard maps, and submit maps that require review.

The event was centered on the idea that "standardized use of maps allows for no error”, and also included online interactions. Such games as digital map puzzles and a quiz with prizes were held and promoted on Webo, WeChat, and other websites, enhancing people’s - especially primary and secondary school students’ - awareness of China's territory.

The natural resources authorities in districts (including county-level cities and counties) and development zones also carried out offline publicity activities in their jurisdictions.
