Leaders from Guizhou Department of Natural Resources and Guizhou Quality Inspection Institute visited Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning on March 29 to check the geographical information surveying and mapping work.

They were received by Ran Wei, deputy head of the bureau, and representatives from various interested departments in the city's Huaxi and Baiyun districts.

Wang Long, a second-level inspector of the department, was briefed on the construction, maintenance, and use of survey marker sites, and staff members from the quality inspection unit examined the efficacy of these sites.

Wang pointed out that survey markers provided spatial references for urban-rural planning and land development, making them significant to national defense and the economy.

Officials were urged to maintain the safety and security of areas surrounding survey marker sites, as well as to raise public awareness about protecting these sites.

They said that illegal behavior that destroys survey marker sites will in future be punished more severely.
