Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has stepped up efforts to prevent and control geological hazards to avoid the occurrence of geological disasters and protect the lives and safety of its people, local media reported.
On Feb 2, Liu Qixin, a member of the Party committee of Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning and director of Guiyang real estate registration center, presided over a meeting dedicated to addressing problems in the city's geological disaster prevention and control.
Speaking at the meeting, Liu underlined the need to take measures to control geological hazards. He said that disaster prevention and control can only be achieved through engineering work or relocation in order to eliminate hidden dangers.
He urged relevant parties to strengthen overall planning and coordination, analyze the causes of potential problems one by one and take rectification measures.
Liu stressed that the prevention and control of geological disasters are related to the safety of people's lives and property. He called for fully understanding the complexity and arduous nature of geological disaster prevention and control, resolutely overcoming carelessness and lazy work, and eliminating weak links.
It is necessary to further strengthen the overall management of geological disaster prevention and control projects, strengthen the supervision and inspection of the projects, find problems in time, and speed up the progress of project implementation on the premise of ensuring safety, he said.
Liu also urged all parties to effectively strengthen monitoring, implement emergency response measures, and immediately organize evacuations in case of danger so as to ensure people's lives and safety.
