Film on environmental damage calls for protection efforts

The Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, organized for all its staff members and those from its affiliated institutions to watch a film about the environmental damage in the areas of the Yangtze River Economic Belt on Feb 13 in order to strengthen the awareness of ecological conservation, local media reported.

More than 400 people in the city's natural resources and planning system watched the film through a video conference.

The film is a joint production of the China Media Group and the Ministry of Ecological Environment, which organized a team to investigate the environment in the areas of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The team members visited 11 provinces and cities, traveling about 120,000 kilometers in three months, and conducted an inspection of the ecological environment of the Yangtze River in the form of secret visits, inspections and filming. The film revealed the typical problems found in the ecological environment amid the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and presented the viewers with cases of existing environmental damage in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

After watching the film, the cadres and staff members of the bureau said that they would take the problems exposed in the film seriously, strictly implement the systems of ecological conservation, and strengthen daily law enforcement and supervision, especially work related to environmental protection.
