Guiyang and Guian make strides in green economy

Guiyang City and Guian New Area recently completed their semi-annual assessment of the green economy, according to a press conference held on Oct 12.

In the first half of the year, in terms of green industrial production, the added value of seven key industries increased by 9.4 percent, driving the added value of industries above designated size up by 3.8 percent.

In terms of green consumption, the number of Guiyang green shopping malls accounted for 30 percent of the total number of malls in the city, and the city is home to 62 green restaurants and 16 green tourism hotels.

During this period, Guiyang created two forest-healthcare bases, added 10 new A-level logistics enterprises and one online freight enterprise, and cultivated 11 green summer vacation boutique hotels and five green boutique homestays.

As for green lifestyle, Guiyang and Guian optimized 33 bus routes, added 95 customized bus routes, and launched two projects to build 661 charging facilities in public parking lots and setting non-motorized lanes on 16 roads.

In addition, Guiyang and Guian have applied for the provincial eco-protection fund. To date, two domestic-waste-related projects have obtained a total of 170 million yuan ($23.24 million) in funds.
