He Moujun, head of the Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning, launched an on-site research excursion to the municipal geographical disaster emergency center on Jan 16.

He urged government staff members to adhere to the people-oriented principle, and to spare no efforts in preventing and controlling potential geographical disasters, which will safeguard people's lives and properties.

At a work session held on the same day, He checked the operation of the geographical disaster prevention and control platform, and was briefed on a comprehensive report on the city's geological disaster prevention and control work, including the distribution of hazardous sites for geological disasters.

He emphasized a profound understanding of the complexity and arduous nature of geological disaster prevention and control work, and called for more funding to establish a demonstration area for geological disaster prevention and control.

He stressed the need to maintain regular reserves of materials, equipment, and personnel. Emergency drills were also emphasized, which would ensure that threatened populations have the necessary knowledge of disaster recognition as well as self-rescue and mutual rescue skills.
