To plan this year's ecological restoration work and accelerate the ecological restoration of abandoned mines during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, Guiyang city in Southwest China's Guizhou province held the 2024 Ecological Restoration Work Conference on Feb 22.
The meeting was chaired by Liu Qixin, director of the real estate registration center of the Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning. Officials from the ecological restoration division, heads of the bureau's branches in various districts, and relevant personnel from Guizhou Non-ferrous Geology Engineering Investigation Co attended the meeting.
During the meeting, each district reported on their ecological governance work related to abandoned mines. Following this, the ecological restoration division gave a briefing on the overall situation of abandoned mines during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and the verification of the recent changes in legacy mines. The division also spoke about plans for county-level abandoned mine restoration work, as well as the provision and utilization of funds.
Liu emphasized the need for concerted efforts at all levels to complete all ecological restoration tasks by the end of this year. Specific requirements were also outlined for tasks such as preliminary project inspections, comprehensive data collection, temporary land use application reviews, and submission of abandoned mine ecological restoration plans.
