Guiyang focuses on natural disaster prevention

Liu Qixin, director of the Guiyang real estate registration center, held a municipal work meeting on the geological disaster and flood prevention and governance for government officials in the city's natural resources and planning system on April 12.

The meeting was attended by some 30 people, including officials from the geological survey office of the Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning, the Guiyang geological disaster center, and technical support units.

After carefully listening to the reports on pre-flood inspections, disaster prevention analysis, progress of national geological disaster projects, and the next phase of this year's work plan, Liu conducted a thorough analysis of the current geological disaster prevention and control situation in Guiyang.

He pointed out that due to the fragility of the local geological environment, the distribution of sites vulnerable to geological disasters is widespread. Influenced by the El Niño phenomenon, especially during the main flood season from June to August, the risk of geological disasters such as landslides triggered by extreme rainfall is high.

Liu emphasized that all levels of government departments must increase inspections at hazardous sites. They should also enhance their monitoring and early warning capabilities, implement control measures, as well as carry out related publicity, training, and drills.
