On April 24, the geological hazard prevention and control command of Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, issued this year's geological hazard prevention and control plan, explicitly proposing the establishment of a geological hazard risk early warning mechanism guided by meteorological disaster warnings.

The plan requires the natural resources and planning, meteorological, emergency, and other departments at all levels to promptly issue risk warnings and transmit information on meteorological risks to responsible units, personnel, and threatened populations through the internet, mobile messages, and other means.

In 2023, Guiyang dealt with two geological hazards, which, due to timely and decisive actions, did not result in any casualties or property losses. During heavy rainfall, the Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning strengthened coordination with the meteorological department, promptly organizing emergency evacuations for 171 households and 392 threatened individuals in 54 high-risk areas, saving both lives and property.

The city currently has 608 registered geological high-risk areas and 790 hazardous slopes. Due to rainfall trends, geological and environmental characteristics, distribution of geological high-risk areas, and comprehensive geological risk surveys, this year's main areas for geological hazard prevention are mainly concentrated in western, central-southern, and northern Guiyang.
