On April 23, it was learned from the natural resources and planning bureau of Xifeng county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, that the comprehensive treatment of rocky desertification and ecological restoration project for water conservation in the Wujiang River basin in Xifeng county is progressing rapidly.

The project, which involves ecological restoration work, plans to restore 1,000 hectares of degraded forests. Currently, over 333.33 hectares of degraded forests have been restored.

The project is a key afforestation project for forestry and ecological construction in Guizhou province and Guiyang city. It has a total planned investment of 9.75 million yuan ($1.37 million) and covers 52 villages across five towns.

The project mainly involves replanting local tree species in the degraded forests in the region. This is aimed at gradually restoring the degraded ecosystem, further enhancing the forest quality and ecological protection capabilities in the management area. Its goal is to establish a green barrier for the Wujiang River basin in Xifeng county.

The project is expected to create job opportunities for around 30,000 local residents and disburse over 5 million yuan in labor wages.
