To further fortify safety measures and enhance emergency response capabilities during the flood season, Liuchang town in Qingzhen city of Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, carried out the 2024 annual flood prevention and emergency rescue drill at the Beilongzhai Reservoir on April 16.

In this flood emergency drill, simulations were conducted to practice responses to extremely heavy rain and urgent flood situations. The drill included exercises such as commanding rescue operations, organizing rescue efforts, evacuating people, and post-disaster work. As the incident commander announced the start of the drill, each emergency team swiftly and orderly initiated actions according to the flood emergency response plan.

The entire drill proceeded in a tense and orderly manner, with each team member performing their duties, reacting promptly, and coordinating seamlessly. The command and liaison team coordinated personnel and supplies, while the rescue team set up water pumps to clear flooded areas and rescued affected and trapped individuals. The evacuation team organized the safe evacuation or relocation of people from hazardous areas, and the post-disaster team was responsible for receiving and accommodating evacuated individuals.

The entire drill lasted three hours, achieving the expected outcomes.
