Guiyang to trim water plants in Nanming River

The Guiyang River and Lake Protection Center said that over the next month, a segmented aquatic plant trimming operation will be conducted along the urban section of the Nanming River. It aims to maintain biodiversity, create a healthy aquatic environment, ensure the river remains clean and aesthetically pleasing, and facilitate smooth flood discharge during the rainy season.

During the transition from spring to summer, temperatures in Guiyang typically exceed 20 C. Particularly from June to September, the favorable temperatures lead to rapid growth of aquatic plants, with a single plant capable of growing about 20 centimeters per day.

This year, a semi-mechanized approach will be adopted for trimming and transporting the aquatic plants. To allow people to fully enjoy the riverside, professional mechanical vehicles will be used to load the trimmed plants, which will then be transported to specialized processing units for harmless disposal. If the weather is good, the trimming operation is expected to be completed within one month.
