In response to frequent, prolonged, and heavy rainfall, departments at all levels in Huaxi district, Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, have been carrying out flood prevention work and comprehensively strengthening preventive measures.

Since June 16, Huaxi district has deployed eight district-level emergency rescue teams, 13 township and sub-district emergency teams, and 133 village and community emergency teams, totaling more than 3,000 personnel.

The main tasks included stationing emergency teams on-site at areas prone to waterlogging, underground parking lots, and commercial centers, and implementing manual intervention measures along drainage systems on main urban roads to increase drainage capacity.

The district's comprehensive administrative law enforcement bureau has dispatched emergency personnel over 270 times and emergency vehicles 68 times for flood prevention and drainage efforts. Measures such as clearing rainwater pipes, opening manhole covers for drainage, unclogging pipes, and pumping out water have been taken to address 19 waterlogging-prone spots.

The Huaxi district's bureau of water affairs has conducted safety inspections for flood risks at small reservoirs, ponds, and areas prone to mountain floods. The transportation bureau of the district has established four emergency work groups to patrol rural roads during the flood season, addressing 19 hazards including slope collapses, fallen trees, and road waterlogging.
