Southwest China's Guizhou province, a land rich in mineral resources, has unveiled a unique approach to developing its abundant assets, setting the stage for a major resource processing base.
With 137 identified mineral resources, including 49 ranking in the nation's top ten, Guizhou boasts significant reserves of coal, phosphorus, aluminum, manganese and gold, forming the backbone of its mining industry known for high yields and profitability.
The concept of "rich ore, precise development" has emerged as a new paradigm in Guizhou's mining sector, emphasizing precise exploration, accurate ore allocation, meticulous extraction, and sophisticated utilization to enhance the value of these rich mineral deposits.
Precision mining is a crucial element in advancing this strategy. Guizhou is committed to employing scientific extraction methods and cutting-edge technologies to minimize resource wastage and ecological harm, with the phosphorus industry shining brightly on the province's mining landscape.
On Jan 15 this year, the nation's first centralized phosphorus mining platform, "Rich Ore, Precise Development · Guizhou Phosphorus Collective Procurement," was officially launched.
This platform streamlines the precise procurement and supply of phosphorus ore and related primary products, facilitating accurate resource allocation to meet diverse downstream enterprise demands.
Previously, resource allocation to weaker enterprises led to issues such as fragmentation and inefficiency. The strategy of precise ore allocation aims to guide superior resources to centralized procurement platforms supporting primary product supply, key industry cluster development projects, and enterprises with full processing capabilities, thus avoiding fragmentation and supply-demand mismatches.
While pursuing economic growth, Guizhou prioritizes the environmental protection of its mines. The province has now established 412 green mines, including 19 at the national level and 393 at the provincial level, emphasizing environmental conservation and restoration alongside mining activities, achieving a balance between economic and environmental benefits.
With a robust industrial foundation, Guizhou is poised for future development. Utilizing its rich reserves of phosphorus, coal, aluminum, manganese, and other mineral resources, the province has laid solid groundwork for resource-based industries focusing on new energy battery materials, phosphorus and phosphorus chemicals, coal and coal chemicals, as well as aluminum and aluminum processing.
Different mineral resources form distinct industry chains that can interconnect, creating new industrial links. Guizhou is driving the mining industry's development by promoting the "chain leader + chain" model, aiming to cultivate mining industry clusters spanning coal chemicals, phosphorus chemicals, manganese processing, aluminum processing, and more with an industrial scale of 10 billion yuan ($1.43 billion) or 100 billion yuan.
Guizhou currently has 124 ongoing projects in its resource processing base, with a total investment exceeding 125 billion yuan.
Looking ahead, the province will continue to uphold the "Rich Ore, Precise Development" ethos, steering the mining industry towards high-quality growth. Through technological innovation and green development strategies, the province is set to enhance the efficiency and added value of its mineral resources.
