Guiyang and Gui'an boost rural development through water management

In recent years, Guiyang and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province, have prioritized the integrated management of drinking water, domestic wastewater, and polluted water bodies, making significant strides in building beautiful villages.

In Shanwangmiao village, located in Huaxi district, Guiyang, the introduction of centralized wastewater treatment facilities has improved the local environment. Today, utilizing its beautiful surroundings and natural ecological advantages, the village has successfully developed a thriving rural tourism industry.

Shandiangmiao village exemplifies the rural water management efforts in Huaxi district. In recent years, the district has advanced domestic wastewater treatment initiatives, strengthened ecological protection, and promoted rural vitalization.

So far, Huaxi district has completed wastewater management in 92 administrative villages, benefiting approximately 114,600 residents. Around 210 million yuan has been invested in the construction of 197 wastewater treatment facilities, achieving a coverage rate of 91.9 percent. After completion by the end of this year, that number will reach 100 percent.

Many villages in Guiyang and Gui'an have improved their environment due to these water management efforts. By the end of last year, the rural domestic wastewater treatment rate in Guiyang reached 59.95 percent, surpassing the provincial average. Additionally, 53 polluted rural water bodies have been successfully treated, achieving zero pollution.

Looking ahead, Guiyang and Gui'an will continue to prioritize ecology, optimizing rural living environments and laying a solid foundation for rural vitalization and the development of beautiful villages.
