The Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning explained the city's new policies on urban forest garden residences at a press conference held on Nov 27.
Urban forest garden residences are an innovative housing model where each unit includes an open-air sky garden. This green, eco-friendly concept integrates sky gardens with modern homes, ensuring every household has its own garden.
According to the "Guiyang Urban Forest Garden Residence Management Requirements (Trial)" issued in 2024, these residences should be improvement-type housing with units of 90 square meters or more.
Each unit with a sky garden may only have one additional necessary balcony, with a projection area of no more than 6 square meters.
The regulations stipulate that developers must include the purpose, rights, obligations, and management requirements of the sky gardens in the purchase contracts, prohibiting owners from changing their use.
All renovations must comply with approved designs and the "Guiyang Interim Measures for Decoration Management."
The sky gardens will be managed and maintained by a unified property management service to ensure a consistent appearance and facilitate ongoing supervision.
