The Guiyang and Gui'an Farmland Protection Coordination Meeting was held on Dec 3 to address critical issues concerning farmland preservation.
The meeting was presided over by He Moujun, director of the Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning.
He emphasized the importance of strictly implementing the directives from the Guizhou Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Planning's farmland protection meeting held on Nov 26. He stressed the need to firmly uphold the red line of farmland protection.
He highlighted several key points, including that it is crucial to ensure the comprehensive completion of all target tasks by enhancing overall coordination and optimizing response measures.
He said that efforts must be centered around verifying and addressing issues identified by national monitoring systems. This includes systematically advancing the verification and disposal of permanent basic farmland, rectifying and restoring general farmland, implementing measures for paddy fields and irrigated land, and addressing illegal land occupation.
He also stressed that bureau's leadership must strictly adhere to the mechanism of supervising farmland protection within designated areas, ensuring that all key tasks are effectively implemented.
Additionally, he said that it is essential to mobilize and coordinate various resources to enhance organizational, financial, and technical support, and that increasing policy advocacy and fostering a positive societal environment for farmland protection are imperative.
