A unique gemstone exhibition focusing on "Raw Stones + Artworks" has opened at the Geological Museum of Guizhou in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Featuring 108 sets containing 378 rare gemstones and crafted pieces from around the world, this exhibition is one of the most extensive and valuable showcases in China this year, merging science, art, and culture.

Seven of the world's ten rarest gemstones – Alexandrite, Taaffeite, Red Beryl, Benitoite, Apatite, Black Opal, and Demantoid Garnet – are highlights of the event, which offers visitors a stunning visual spectacle.

The exhibition explores gemstones' scientific and cultural significance through four thematic sections. It educates visitors on gemstone origins, internal crystal structures, and optical properties while fostering appreciation for mineral science and cultural heritage.

The first section delves into gemstones' formation and aesthetic standards, unveiling their journey through time.

The second section highlights the legendary stories behind six renowned gems – diamond, ruby, sapphire, emerald, chrysoberyl, and opal – and traces their historical evolution.

The third section introduces birthstones associated with each month, symbolizing human aspirations for a better life.

The fourth section explains gemstones' color variations and optical brilliance, revealing their symbolic meanings and cultural significance.

Since opening, the exhibition has attracted over 10,000 visitors eager to explore the captivating world of gemstones and minerals.
