He Moujun, director of the Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning, conducted inspections targeting illegal mining and geological hazard prevention on April 25.

He visited a known illegal mining site in Xiaoqiao village, Baiyun district, to assess signs of unauthorized excavation and current control measures. He then traveled to a landslide-prone area at Miaoshanjiao in Qinglong village, Guanshanhu district, where he reviewed routine patrols, early-warning systems, and emergency drills.

He emphasized the complexity and urgency of both preventing illegal mining and mitigating geological disasters, calling for constant vigilance.

He urged authorities to strengthen accountability and build an integrated disaster prevention system using technologies like InSAR, drones, and automated monitoring, and trained personnel. These efforts aim to detect risks early and protect lives and property.

He also stressed tougher enforcement through high-tech patrols and closer coordination with police and environmental agencies to crack down on illegal mining activities.
