Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has secured the National Civilized City title again, marking its fifth straight win. This honor recognizes the city's progress in urban development and reflects its enduring commitment to serving and benefiting its residents.
Guiyang has taken a multi-faceted approach to improve city life, from revitalizing rundown neighborhoods and advancing waste sorting to easing traffic congestion and enhancing urban cleanliness. Campaigns like "Clean Plate" promote food waste reduction, while traffic awareness efforts have helped lower Guiyang's congestion ranking from 3rd to 25th nationally.
The city's cultural tourism has also flourished, with vibrant commercial streets such as Taiping Road and Cao Zhuangyuan Street attracting visitors and boosting local vitality. Environmentally, Guiyang has prioritized green development, achieving over 98.9 percent of days with good or excellent air quality in 2024.
Public wellbeing remains a priority, evidenced by 327 completed "15-minute living circle" projects and a 98 percent rural sanitation toilet coverage rate this year.
Guiyang will build on its five-time champion status by raising urban governance and service standards even higher.
