On Sept 4, the Guizhou Department of Natural Resources held a provincial meeting to review key work in the natural resources system, analyze current challenges, and deploy next steps to ensure completion of annual targets and a successful close to the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25).

The meeting highlighted efforts this year to protect arable land, strengthen geological exploration, efficiently allocate mineral resources, comprehensive guard against geological disasters, and promote environmental protection and restoration, contributing to the province's stable and strong economic performance.

Officials emphasized securing land resources for key projects, optimizing approval processes, delegating certain land-use approvals, and addressing idle or unallocated land to meet the needs of major industries and initiatives. Maintaining the arable land protection red line, promoting forest-farmland spatial exchanges, and preparing implementation plans were underscored, with careful attention to the 2025 arable land assessment.

The comprehensive prevention of geological disasters was also prioritized, including monitoring and early warning systems, hazard site remediation, and relocation programs, ensuring the safety of residents and the timely completion of all relocation tasks.
