Guizhou province, home to four UNESCO World Natural Heritage sites, 11 national nature reserves, nine national geoparks, and 10 5A-level tourist destinations, is utilizing its abundant natural resources to strengthen cultural and tourism development.

With forests covering 63.3 percent of the province, summer temperatures averaging 23 C, and landscapes filled with canyons, caves, waterfalls, and hot springs, the region is rich in both ecological and aesthetic value.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Guizhou has prioritized both development and ecological protection as dual priorities. The province integrates natural resource management into its culture and tourism planning, supporting brands like "Colorful Guizhou" and developing niche industries, including summer resorts and wellness tourism.

A provincial spatial planning framework guides the protection and activation of World Heritage sites, historic towns, and traditional villages, turning cultural and natural assets into economic opportunities. Urban design guidelines and village landscape controls ensure tourism projects reflect local cultural and ethnic characteristics.

Guizhou has completed ecological restoration on over 93,333 hectares, addressing regional environmental challenges and improving landscape quality and ecosystem services. During the 14th Five-Year Plan, more than 4,000 hectares of abandoned mines have been rehabilitated, with streamlined land approval procedures and digital platforms accelerating the implementation of tourism projects, offering integrated site selection, scheduling, and policy services.

By connecting natural treasures with cultural tourism, Guizhou is creating sustainable, high-quality destinations while safeguarding its ecological legacy.
