The Ministry of Natural Resources announced the winners of the 2025 National Natural Resources Science Explainers Competition on Oct 13. After provincial recommendations, preliminary and final rounds, expert evaluations, and public review, the competition awarded five first prizes, 10 second prizes, 24 third prizes, 57 excellence awards, and 27 awards for outstanding organization.

From the Geological Museum of Guizhou, Liu Yangcen won a third prize, while Lu Peipei from the Guizhou Geological Environment Monitoring Institute received an excellence award. The Guizhou Department of Natural Resources was also recognized with an award for outstanding organization.

Earlier in April, the provincial department hosted a Guizhou-level selection contest. Participants from across the province competed, presenting engaging talks on topics related to natural resources, such as rocks and minerals, energy resources, farmland protection, geological hazards, geospatial mapping, and ecological conservation. After intense competition, Liu Yangcen and Lu Peipei were selected as the provincial first-prize winners to represent Guizhou at the national level.

This year's contest highlighted participants' creativity, expertise, and communication skills, demonstrating Guizhou's dedication to advancing scientific knowledge and environmental awareness.
