The Guizhou provincial natural resources work conference for 2026 was held on Jan 22 in Guiyang. It served as a platform to review the achievements made in the preceding year while outlining key tasks for the upcoming 12 months.

Marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2025-30), the conference emphasized stabilizing total arable land and strengthening land protection, optimizing land use, and building coordinated efforts for better farmland conservation.

The meeting called for improving land use security, enhancing approval efficiency, strengthening post-allocation supervision, and making full use of idle land resources. Also highlighted were the importance of geological surveys, mineral exploration, the orderly management of mining rights, and the optimization of territorial spatial planning.

Village planning, planning implementation, and risk prevention were also emphasized.

Attendees drew attention to the importance of including dynamic risk surveys in disaster prevention and mitigation measures. They also called for stronger monitoring and early-warning systems, relocation programs, and public education and training. Ecological protection and restoration were two other points underscored at the meeting, along with more comprehensive land consolidation and the development of better management mechanisms for the area's karst cave resources.

The conference stressed the importance of the continued enforcement of laws and regulations, and sought to prioritize the tackling of any cases of illegal occupation of arable land and violations in mineral resource management.

Enhancing asset management, improving real estate registration services, building a natural resource asset management system, cultivating high-level scientific and technological talent, and strengthening surveying and geographic information capabilities were also highlighted as top priorities.
