Guizhou launches national territorial spatial governance innovation base

The inauguration ceremony for the Guizhou Innovation Base for Territorial Spatial Governance was held in Guiyang on Feb 6, marking a step toward advancing regional coordinated development and modernizing territorial spatial governance.

The base aims to deepen collaboration between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Guizhou province, strengthen the local talent pool, enhance technological research and problem-solving capacity, and improve service support for high-quality development in the natural resources sector.

Its cooperation framework focuses on addressing key issues, promoting practical and innovative research, and reinforcing ministry-province coordination. By activating integrated innovation and strengthening institutional support, the base is expected to contribute to Guizhou's green and sustainable development path while exploring modern approaches to territorial spatial governance.

The plaque for the base was unveiled during the inauguration ceremony, and the Ministry of Natural Resources' Key Laboratory of Carrying Capacity Assessment for Resource and Environment signed a cooperation agreement with the Guizhou Second Institute of Surveying and Mapping to build the innovation base.

A seminar session featured experts from the Chinese Academy of Natural Resources Economics and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who shared insights on new opportunities for comprehensive territorial governance in the era of emerging economic development, natural resource accounting and balance sheet compilation, and risk assessment and security measures for critical mineral supply.
