A large-scale geological disaster emergency drill was held on April 14 in Yanshan village, Wudang district of Guiyang, under the guidance of the Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning.
Designed to strengthen disaster prevention capabilities and public safety awareness, the exercise adopted a "no-script, no rehearsal" format to simulate real emergency conditions as closely as possible.
The drill was based on a potential landslide hazard at the Wengbo landslide risk site following prolonged heavy rainfall. According to the scenario, geological conditions along the existing landslide belt had worsened, with small-scale ground movement already detected, posing a direct threat to 96 households and around 300 residents living below the slope.

After the warning was issued, local authorities and emergency teams immediately activated evacuation plans and launched a full emergency response, including monitoring and early warning, information reporting, resident evacuation, temporary resettlement, and emergency rescue operations. Departments coordinated efficiently, and residents evacuated in an orderly manner.
Experts dispatched by the bureau joined the operation on-site, conducting risk assessments and helping define danger zones to support emergency decision-making.
Officials said the exercise not only tested the practicality of local disaster response plans but also improved coordination among district, township, and village authorities while enhancing residents' disaster awareness and self-rescue skills.
