The Guizhou Provincial Department of Natural Resources has reported significant progress in the province's mineral resource development since the launch of Guizhou's strategy to maximize the value of its rich mineral resources.

Focusing on the entire mining value chain, the department has strengthened resource exploration, mineral rights management, efficient resource development, and government services, thereby enhancing resource security, improving allocation efficiency, and advancing green development.

Geological exploration has achieved a series of new breakthroughs. Since 2021, the provincial government has invested 2.10 billion yuan ($294 million) in geological surveys, supporting 244 exploration projects involving strategic minerals such as coal, phosphorus, aluminum, and manganese, while identifying 91 priority exploration targets. Guizhou has now confirmed reserves of 102 mineral types. The number of mineral types ranking among China's top 10 by reserves has increased from 49 in 2022 to 67, while 30 rank among the nation's top three.

Meanwhile, Guizhou has continued to promote green mining by promoting intelligent mining technologies, improving resource recovery rates, and expanding the recycling of associated minerals, coal gangue, mine gas, and other industrial byproducts.

To support project development, the department has continued to streamline administrative services through a series of reforms. The statutory approval period for mining rights registration has been shortened from 60 working days to 20, accelerating the implementation of key mining and industrial upgrading initiatives.
