Guiyang held a public awareness campaign on surveying and mapping law and national territory awareness on Aug 28, promoting the safe and responsible use of geospatial information.
The event was organized by the Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning at Guanshanhu Park under the theme "Safeguarding Geospatial Information Security and Unlocking the Potential of Spatiotemporal Data". Liao Guirong, director of the Guiyang real estate registration center, attended the event.
Through information booths, banners, brochures, and other outreach activities, officials introduced residents to national territory awareness, surveying and mapping, and geospatial information. Members of the bureau's Party branch and youth organizations also provided on-site assistance, answered questions, and distributed educational materials and souvenirs.
Geospatial information security is closely linked to national security, while spatiotemporal data has become an important resource for supporting high-quality urban development. The campaign aimed to help the public better understand the importance of protecting geospatial information, promote lawful and standardized use of maps and data, and strengthen awareness of national territory across society.
It also highlighted the need for stronger data security practices across the surveying and mapping sector, helping build a sound foundation for the safe use of geospatial information and the development of smart, high-quality cities.
