Guiyang bureau of natural resources and planning, together with other organizations, completed the city-level selection for the 11th Guizhou Children's Hand-Drawn Map Competition on Sept 2, to promote knowledge of national territory and strengthen public awareness of national security.

The selection followed rigorous, standardized, and impartial procedures. Judges strictly followed relevant map management regulations and excluded works with issues related to national sovereignty, territorial integrity, national security, or national honor and interests. They also carefully reviewed the originality of entries and, while ensuring compliance, considered their artistic quality, creativity, and childlike appeal.

The city-level competition officially launched in June and concluded its collection of entries on Aug 15, receiving more than 700 works from young participants across Guiyang. Centered on the competition theme, the participants created works featuring China's landscapes, peaceful life, ecological protection, and the conservation and use of natural resources. Through colorful and diverse artistic forms, they expressed their love for their homeland and hometown and their desire to protect the country's landscapes.

The entries included watercolors, oil paintings, calligraphy, batik, embroidery, and collages. The competition was divided into four age groups: under 6, 6-8, 9-12, and 13-15. Each group was granted five first prizes, 10 second prizes, and 15 third prizes.
